LOC Composites (LOC) is a successful young enterprise, incorporated in 2005, pioneering innovative design concepts for advanced sustainable building products that have the potential to revolutionise the construction industry. Prototyping, early production and small-scale manufacturing are undertaken at premises in the University of Southern Queensland’s (USQ) Fibre Composites Precinct in Toowoomba, Queensland, Australia.
The central structural element of LOC’s technology is an advanced fibre composite panel. This innovative building panel is strong, lightweight and easy to install while also being resistant to moisture, rot, fire and termites. Consequently, it has many applications as a building panel and its successful incorporation as a component in other products for architectural and structural applications has been proven, for example bridge decks, beams, and railway sleepers.
Infrastructure
LOC’s infrastructure includes 180m2 office space, 2500m2 development and manufacturing space, a fully automated prototype panel production line and a range of assembly jigs to produce beams and deck structures.
